
Launch of The US Kids Foundation at Muthaiga Golf Club

Muthaiga Golf Club through her Chairman Ronald K. Meru hosted the launch of the USKids Golf Foundation that was attended by Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary of Sports, Heritage & Culture, the USKids Golf Foundation President & Founder, Mr. Larry Mr. Dan Van Horn, his lovely wife Jennifer Van Horn, the Vice President Coaches Institute Mr. John Bryan and the Senior Director Academy Development, Mr. Jim Hardy. Additionally, the sponsors were ably represented by Mr. Peter Ndegwa, CEO Safaricom PLC, Mr. John Gachora, CEO NCBA Group, Mr. Vijay Kantaria Business Development Director, Prime Bank & Mr. Rao Rakesh, CEO Crown Paints (K) PLC.

There was also an array of interactive panel sessions that sought to reiterate the importance of foundation to the development of junior golf within the country and also in part piloted the launch of the Coaches Conference. This conference would see various 40 golf professionals from all across the country undergo rigorous training with the aim of these aspiring coaches to achieve Certified Coach Status upon successful completion of the requirements, which includes both the training itself as well as passing online examinations from USKGF and the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Furthermore, the launch of the USKids Foundation came with very exciting news for junior golfers within the country with the announcement of the launch of a US Kids Local Tour Competition, which will give qualifying junior golfers opportunities to play in Regional, International, and World Championships competitions organized by US Kids Golf.

The Local Tour will be a series of six to eight one-day tournaments which will commence in the first quarter of 2022. The junior players will earn points, awards, and Priority Status invitations to the World Championship. It will allow junior players to advance from local tournaments to higher levels of competition at the international level.
